ppd retires from DotA2

Available in Chinese & Russian

Our longstanding team captain and friend Peter “ppd” Dager has decided to hang up his mouse and retire as a DotA 2 player. Since joining in autumn of 2018, Peter has created some truly memorable moments under the NiP banner, including taking us to our first and thus far only International.

His contribution to the competitive DotA scene - as a player, a drafter and as a well-reasoned voice in the ever-churning debate that complements the game - over the past decade stands unrivaled, and though his playmaking days may now be behind him, the community would be lucky to retain his advice on anything relating to DotA. Peter is now part of the NiP legacy and will be remembered as one of the greats, in NiP and esports alike. Once a Ninja, always a Ninja.

”Peter has been one of the key influencers in shaping the game of DotA 2. Being in a position where you can retire with such a resume, having won a TI is a formidable accomplishment. It is a position only very few gamers in this world get to experience. I am sure Peter will find success in whichever path he chooses next, and I wish him the very best of luck.

Jonas Gundersen, COO of NiP

"Playing for NiP has been a true honor, they made me feel at home here in Sweden as a foreigner and always trusted me to do what was best for the team. I'd like to thank everyone for their hospitality and I wish them the best moving forward."

Peter “ppd” Dager, former team captain of NiP.DotA2

Jonas Gundersen continues:

“Over the past years we’ve been fortunate enough to have had a lot of good players wear the iconic jersey of NiP, but we also have to conclude that we’ve been unable to translate it into the level of success that we strive for.

”Reinventing ourselves is nothing new to us, having been around for almost 20 years. In DotA, we now have the unique opportunity to approach the game with a fresh perspective, while building a roster that has a longer perspective in sight. We’ve got some interesting young talents already, and will add a Head Coach that can help set the right team and elevate us into the right trajectory for long term success.”

Thanks for everything and good luck in your future endeavors, Peter.
