It is with great excitement and anticipation that we are announcing a joint venture between ESL, Ninjas in Pyjamas and 12 other leading CS:GO teams.
As partners and key stakeholders of Pro League, teams, players and tournament organizers all contribute to laying a foundation that will further professionalize CS:GO as an esport by improving team representation, introducing standardized regulations, and revenue sharing for teams and their players.
Together, we are determined to create a league that is as sustainable and player-friendly as it is entertaining.
In the official ESL Press Release, Sebastian Weishaar, Chief Product Officer ESL said:
“‘The Louvre agreement’ as we have grown fond of calling it, can be seen as a gathering of partners with a common idea for the growth of Counter-Strike. It will build a platform to create stability and growth, without sacrificing the ability for new teams and players to climb to the top.”
Following the agreement, ESL and all leading teams agreed to move away from the previous regionalized model and instead adopt a 24 team, single global division where partnered participants are to receive a revenue share from ESL Pro Tour (Incl. IEM Katowice & ESL One Cologne) competitions as well as increased influencing power for signatory teams, who form part of the governing body for ESL Pro League.
"After evaluating different league options for 2020, our choice fell on continued participation in ESL Pro League as one of 13 member teams. We are extremely excited to embark on the journey of building the most competitive and entertaining league product in Counter-Strike alongside 12 of the largest teams in the world. The league will allow us to focus our efforts and create a more sustainable ecosystem and player-friendly environment for all our CS:GO players for the future." - Hicham Chahine, CEO of NiP
